on October 10.
Connotative for pushing the boundaries in all facets of her career, this latest project is no exception. Bjőrk has described the upcoming album as a multimedia collection. The experimental project will be released in conjunction with a series of iPad/iPhone apps. There will be a relating app for each song and a subsequent single mother app that will group the collection together. These apps provide an immersive environment where the fans are encouraged to explore the relationship between nature, music and technology. Interactive stems and fluid animation respond to gesture in order to create a virtual cosmos- a unique world of musical discovery. Bjőrk will release each song into this environment that allows for interactive elements including a sequencer and musical score. Said apps will also comprise of essays, artwork, karaoke options and live shows.
As a master of eclecticism, Bjőrk’s career has spanned over three decades. In this time she has become as famous for her innovative music as she has for her unique and iconic aesthetic. Having worked with the likes of Alexander McQueen (McQueen directed her music video for Alarm Call and Bjőrk returned the favour by partaking in several of his fashion shows), Bjőrk has firmly asserted herself as an icon within the fashion industry. In a more literal sense, we see fashion and music merge together within the Moon video though the innovative harp-like belt she uses to create the multitude of sublime sounds.
Ultimately, Bjőrk has once again extended any pre-existing artistic boundaries by redeveloping her take on music, fashion, media and movement. Over decades Bjőrk has consistently reinvented herself in a manner that has ensured she remains deeply connected and relevant to her ever-expanding fan base.
